Ybhg. Datuk Wira Dr Hj. Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff

YBhg. Dr Rais Hussin is an avid strategist, perennial wordsmith, accountable and serial entrepreneur, and serious policy intellectual. He has 29 years of experience launching and expanding large, complex, and ultimately successful enterprise initiatives and international programs across a broad range of technical enterprises in for-profit and non-profit environments, that includes but not limited to, The Star, Telekom Malaysia, Teleglobe Canada, MCI WorldCom, Axis Technologies, and Goldnet Resources. Dr. Rais was also the former Chairman of Malaysian Digital Economy Corp (MDEC).

Prof. Bo Nørregaard Jørgensen

Professor Bo N. Jørgensen is Head of Centre with the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute and SDU Center for Energy Informatics. Bo N. Jørgensen received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in computer system engineering from Odense University, Denmark, in 1994 and 1997, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Southern Denmark, in 2000, where he is the Founder and the Head of the Center for Energy Informatics. He represents the University of Southern Denmark at national and international events, in advisory boards, and government reference committees. He is an Appointed Member of the Danish Academy of Technical Science. His research focuses on integration and management of demand-side flexibility with supply-side fluctuations, from the business and technological perspectives.

Prof Alan Smeaton
Prof. Alan F. Smeaton

Alan F. Smeaton completed his PhD at University College Dublin and moved to Dublin City University where he has been a Full Professor of Computing since 1997. He has been Executive Dean of Faculty and Head of the School of Computing (twice). His research output includes more than 700 publications with more than 18,800 citations and a h-index of 68. He is an elected member of the Royal Irish Academy and an Academy Gold Medal Winner, a Fellow of the IEEE and winner of several awards and prizes including the Mark Everingham prize, the Niwa-Takayanagi prize and the Strix award. He is a founding Director of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics which has 400 researchers across 4 Universities in Ireland and is the largest non-capital public research award ever given in Ireland. In 2018 he has stepped back from his executive role in directing this in order to concentrate on teaching and research. He is a regular contributor to Irish and international media with several media “pieces” each year on radio, TV, news and online, in Ireland and internationally and on topics usually around Artificial Intelligence.

Prof Boriana Koleva

Boriana Koleva is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham and Director of the Horizon Digital Economy Research Centre which explores the user-centred design and development of trusted data-driven products. Her research is highly interdisciplinary and focuses on designing, deploying and studying ‘in the wild’ new hybrid products, which flexibly combine physical artefacts with digital media to deliver powerful consumer experiences. She has consistently published in the leading international venues in HCI, CSCW and Ubiquitous Computing. Her work has been supported by funding from RCUK and EU. Notable projects include ‘Living With Interactive Decorative Patterns’, which brought together a team of designers, developers and a range of users to create aesthetic interactions in homes and ‘Hybrid Gifting’, which explores how the combination of physical and digital technologies can enable new forms of gift experience. 

Prof Dimitrios Makris
Prof. Dimitrios Makris

Kingston University, UK

Dimitrios Makris is a Professor in Computer Vision and Machine Learning at Kingston University. He received his first degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and his PhD in Computer Vision from City University London. He is known for his research on video and human motion analysis, and has also worked on other research problems that involve analysis of multi-dimensional time series, e.g. medical video from contrast enhanced Ultrasound or event-series from neuromorphic vision sensors. He has been awarded many research grants as principal investigator and financially supported by national and international organisations. He is currently the chair of the IET Vision and Imaging (V&I) Technical Professional Network.
